Ruud Sondag starts as CEO of Eneco Group

Today, Ruud Sondag was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Eneco Groep NV by the Supervisory Board of Eneco Groep and started working in his new position immediately. Earlier today at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders, the Supervisory Board explained the nomination and appointment in more detail.

Ruud Sondag: ‘As the new CEO of Eneco Group, I will be given the opportunity to lead one of the finest sustainable companies in Europe. I consider it an honour to work for Eneco Group. Continuing Eneco Group's leading position in the energy transition, and the privatisation process, have the highest priority for me'.

The appointment of Sondag means that Jeroen de Haas will be stepping down as CEO. He will remain available to handover his work to Sondag.

Ruud Sondag (55) has extensive experience as an executive and supervisory board member and, in addition, he is very closely involved in initiatives in the circular economy. For eleven years, he was the CEO of Van Gansewinkel Group, which developed into a large European player in waste processing under his leadership. He was also active as a shareholder at the recycling company Scherpenzeel until the end of 2017. Sondag holds several supervisory board positions, among others, at ProRail and Faber Halbertsma Group.
