Autonomous Eneco Group achieves strong results for the first half of 2017

Summary

Eneco Group recorded good results for the first six months of 2017.Operating profit increased by 34%, thanks in part to organic growth in Belgium and an acquisition in Germany. The overall number of customers also grew and the company took further steps on innovation and new energy services. Consequently, we can look back on a good first period following the unbundling of the grid operator on 1 February.

  • Operating profit up by 34 percent to €135 million
  • Profit after income tax rises by 25 percent
  • Milestone of 100 megawatts of solar energy
  • 'Warmtealliantie' set up to achieve major CO2 reductions
  • Innovative ventures grow to include ONZO and Next Kraftwerke

Guido Dubbeld, CFO of Eneco Group: ‘Our longstanding efforts on sustainability are paying off and now form a stable, growing core of operating profit. In March, we reached a significant milestone when we achieved 100 megawatts of generating capacity from 420,000 solar panels. Thanks to the acquisition of the activities of ENI Belgium and our holding in energy and IT company, LichtBlick, we can now offer this greater supply of sustainable energy and our innovative products to many more customers. Growth in revenues and operating profit was mainly an effect of cost-saving measures and our holding in LichtBlick and despite disappointing wind yields.’
